It includes all three levels of higher education especially in the field of forestry, wood sciences and technology, ecology, environmental sciences, economics, management, engineering, informatics, design, fire protection, industrial engineering, and connected borderline and interdisciplinary fields. The education system includes also socio-scientific disciplines.
The TUZVO carries out the Bachelor´s, Master´s and PhD study programmes and the programmes of lifelong education.
The TUZVO can be attended by citizens of the Slovak Republic and also other countries who met the requirements for admission to studies and are enrolled in a faculty.
Bachelor´s study is a content-integrated part of university study representing its first level and taking three years. After completing the final State Examination and the defence of a Bachelor´s thesis, graduates are awarded the academic title of “Bachelor” (abbreviated to Bc.).
Master´s study – the second level – takes 2 years in full-time programmes, 3 years in part-time ones. A prerequisite is completing the first level of study. After passing the final State Examination and the defence of a diploma thesis, graduates are awarded the academic title “inžinier” (abbreviated to Ing. corresponding to MSc., written in front of the holder´s name).
The PhD study is the third level of higher education studies and takes 3 years in the full-time form, 5 years in the part-time form. After the defence of the doctoral dissertation, the PhD study graduates are awarded scientific-academic degree “philosophiae doctor” (abbreviated to PhD).
The three-level study system has been held in particular study programmes at all the TUZVO faculties since the academic year 2005/2006.
Studies at the University of the Third Age are provided for people at the retirement age who acquire here knowledge and skills that they can use for their personal development as well as in favour of all society.
All the faculties of the TUZVO apply the ECTS system widespread all over Europe and, apart from other things, enabling students a mobility, i. e. a possibility to complete a part of their studies at a different faculty or university in Slovakia or abroad.
